Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not
hid from thee.
Psalm 38:9
No matter
how far you have fallen, how great the error appears to be or even the depth of
the mistake you made; know today that God can still transform your life, restore
your divine plan and plant your feet on solid ground… Your mistake may not be
correctable (there are things that happen as a direct result of our decisions
which simply cannot be fixed), but you can learn from them so that the end product
is positive… There are things in your
life which may lead to a delay in reaching your destiny and today’s passage teaches
us to understand that a delay is not the same as a removal or cut off… God
has a divine plan for your life; however, the time frame in which it is executed
can be paved by the choices and decisions that you make… God is not governed by
the time which daily restrains us from doing things that need to be done… Each
and every day that you experience on this earth is another day where you can
complete all the tasks set before you if you lay your desires before the Lord…
Too often I have heard people say there
aren’t enough hours in the day; the question that I have to ask as a direct
result of this phrase is are you using
your time wisely…? Are the things you spend time doing in your day the
things that God desires of you or are you busy fulfilling the desires which
have led you down the wrong path to begin with…? When the desires you have don’t
align with the desires of God you find yourself uttering the aforementioned
phrase as if to say that you have too much to do… The bible declares in the 3rd
chapter of Ecclesiastes that there is a time for everything under the sun… “There is a time for
everything, and a season for every activity under the
heavens.” The will of God will never put more on
your plate; on the contrary, it will actually alleviate things from your life
that had no business being there in the first place… This is why David says that
my desires are before thee… David
realized the error of his ways and has felt the discipline from the hand of God;
at this point in his life, he is crying out to the Lord knowing that the same God
that delivered him before can deliver him again… As we mentioned earlier, a
delay in your divine destiny is not a cut off from the will of God… Often times
we get the two mixed up, we make a mistake and instead of learning from it we
compound that previous mistake with the mistake of thinking that we have
complete lost out on the will and plan of God… This message today is to teach us that all the desires of God can be
released in our lives when we give our desires back to Him… There are a lot
of mistakes that we make in life, but the greatest mistake you can make on this
earth is not making sure that your will aligns with the will of God… David is
fed up with the results that he has received from following his desires; he has
reached rock bottom and now call on the Lord form his very heart… This passage
not only speaks to the delays we can experience in this journey, it also speaks
to the humility that we must have when we hit rock bottom…
David could
have wallowed in his misery; however, he decides to let his groans of
ineptitude reach the ears of his heavenly father… When will you decide to stop
feeling sorry for yourself and start raising your hands to God begging and
pleading for Him to incline His ear to you and pull you out…? Humility can
allow a Christian to be deprived of his/her calling simply because they
actually believe that they don’t have to turn their desires over to the Lord… Today’s
message is that you can overcome, you can reach higher heights but just as
Jesus said the greatest among you will
be your servant. The plan that God has for you may not be the plan you have
for yourself, the place you see yourself may not be the location which God has
prepared for you… Sadly, sometimes the
only way God gets our attention is to allow us to fall and then we call upon
Him, not out of necessity but the burning desire to do His will that was
ignited through the fall which we experienced… There are a lot of things
that we experience in this journey of life, a lot choices that we make which
will lead us to our destiny or deprive us of it… Through today’s devotional we
are reminded of the love which God has for His creation even in the midst of their
flaws and failures… David had succumb to the temptations of the flesh and after
experiencing the great affliction which was produced form that seed of temptation
he decides to lay his very soul before the Lord… In all of his anguish and
misery he pens this psalm and starts by making a request unto the Lord; “Lord, do not
rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.”
Paul’s letter to the church of Philippi, he encourages them to lean on the
everlasting arm of Jesus Christ… Despite the trials and tribulations that come
and invade their lives, the passage written in the 4 chapter reminds them to
continue to seek the very presence of God and make their desires known to Him… “Do not be anxious about
anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Make your request known to God, not because it’s the right thing to
do but because you need to know whether your desires are His will or not...
Upon receiving the answer, prepare your heart to accept His will for your life
even if it hurts to the very core of what you wanted to do…
BE BLESSED!!!
