Don't Fear What Man Can Do...

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Hebrews 13:5-6

As a child of God it is of the utmost importance that we get to the point in our lives where we are not fearful of the things which we encounter on this earth… The enemy has deceived and entrapped so many of us by redirecting our attention on matters of this world instead of matters of Christ… We are so bogged down and consumed by so much throughout the day that we don’t even have a single second, minute or hour to spend in deep devotion or thought regarding our Lord and Savior… How many times have you said a hurried prayer the minute you wake up because you slept through your alarm clock that morning and the reason you overslept was because you were dealing with this situation or that situation; you normally go to bed at a reasonable time; however, this particular night things were so chaotic that you had to alter your pattern… The night that you overslept turns into days and soon become weeks, to the point that you are speaking with your supervisor on your job or your counselor about being tardy to work or school and he/she tells you that you have too much on your plate… You might not be at the point where you have received a warning by your job or school; however, this message taken from the book of Hebrews reminds us today that we can be overwhelmed at times with so much and this is a direct result of the debilitating fear which is not of God but the enemy… There are things in your life that need to be a part of your life; however, there are also things in your life which need to be let go or removed… In this chapter of Hebrews we are reminded of the importance that love plays in our lives, the word of God tells us that God is love and this is a foundational principle that must exist… Love is the key not only to happiness but to your existence upon this earth and the afterlife as well… What often times happens in our lives is that we don’t have a in-depth understanding of the word love is and so we take on so much thinking that we are showing our love when in reality we are showing our lack of understanding what love is…

When things take you away from the source of love (which is God) you must begin to question those things and even come to a point where you are able to let them go… This is why the writer starts off by saying so what we may boldly say… You must come to that point in your life where you can proclaim things boldly; the enemy doesn’t have any power when you speak boldly… The word of God tells us that when Jesus was tempted of the devil in the wilderness He stood firm on the word of God; in the end, the word of God tells us that when Jesus rebuked him and said away from me (speaking boldly) that Satan retreated from him… Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only. Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.” Jesus had been fasting for forty days and forty nights, He was hungry and the first thing that the enemy did is try to entice Him with food… The enemy knows your weakest points, he knows when you are at your lowest point; however, the only thing he can do is provide you with a choice… Jesus was given a choice and chose to stand boldly on the fear of God and not to become fearful of the man tempting Him… Daily you are provided with choices, you are given opportunities which are laid before you to either walk in the fear of the Lord or the fear of the moment… This is what we must come to understand and realize in studying this passage… You will be provided opportunities that will entice you to fear change and separation; when this comes, it must be handled by your fear in Christ… Stop allowing people to manipulate your emotions, stop letting the enemy entrap you with the cares of this world and tune your eyes and ears to the promises that God has made… Choose today to start figuring out what things matter most in your life and what things are just distractions and/or stumbling blocks… Once you have drawn that proverbial line in the sand you must have a mindset which is unwavering with your faith and standing in Christ… The distractions that you are facing will come in like a flood and cause all different kinds of issues… You may go through a season of withdraw where you are fearful of being alone or isolating yourself from this or that and this is why the writer goes on to say that you must not only speak boldly, but that you must make it known that The Lord is my helper… Let the world know that you are not scared of them; after all, they don’t control your future...

BE BLESSED!!!
