Or speak to the
earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto
thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all
mankind.
Job
12:8-12
Job was a man who had everything
that you can possibly want… The word of God records the completeness of Job’s
life and the relationship that he had with the Lord; however, there came a point
in Job’s life where his faith would be tested through adversity… Today’s passage reminds us that it is okay to question
God regarding the storm at hand, but you must make sure that in the season of
questioning you do not forget who God is… Job is facing a situation
where just about everything that mattered to him on the earth has been taken
from him, he is delaying with close friends at the time of the passage who
assumed that all this has happened because of some wrongdoing on Job’s part…
It is of the utmost importance today that we
understand that not everybody will have the right perspective on the trials and
tribulations that you are facing… Job replies to the accusations by
declaring that all creation knows that this is the hand of God moving in his
life… Sure Job was heartbroken, he was in mourning; however, the fear
(reverence, respect, admiration) that he has for the Lord never dwindled… You
may not get the answer from the Lord that you want; however, you can take
courage in knowing that when disaster strikes in your life God is still at work
and His plan is perfect for your life… Don’t lose sight of the God that you
serve when you face hardship or loss… Don’t forget about the authority that He
has when you experience dark days and sleepless nights… When trials come and
storms rage, learn to seek God more and open your ears to know what it is that
He is trying to get you to see through the storm you face… Job’s storm was a
test of His faith, but also displayed God’s faithfulness and the ignited the
faith of those around Him… The storm that Job endured was meant for his wife
that told him to curse God and die, it was meant for his friends who may have
had a verbal faith but not a clear understanding of God’s sovereignty… There are
people in your life who need to see your faith, there are people in your life
that must see your scars and so the storm you face carries direction and
transformation for the lives of all that witness you endure and persevere
through it… Sometimes the storms you face
aren’t necessarily meant for you; however, you have to endure them so that
people can see your faith displayed at the most critical times while God shows
up and displays His faithfulness… The word of God declares that in
all the things that Job endured, he did not sin against
God…
You might be at point in your life
where things don’t seem to be adding up… You may feel like when you take one
step forward you are knocked back two; whatever the case or whatever you feel
know that you will make it through (which is what Job teaches us through his
life) and God has greater things in store which will make the storm worth your
time… It may not be what you want and it won’t be easy to accept, but you can
“speak to the earth, and it shall teach
thee…” about how things grow after the rain… Storms are necessary in
your life both for you and the people around you… The earth is the greatest
teacher we have; it’s been here since the beginning and has been molded and
fashioned to support every lifestyle which God created… It knows the importance of rain, it knows the
importance of sunshine and it knows the importance of growth… You can
look to the things around you and find comfort in knowing that a flower may
wither in the winter; however, it comes back stronger in the spring… You are
going through tough times in your life, but you are coming out stronger than you
were before…. As we journey through life, God is calling us to enjoy the things
around us, and slow down at times. “Speak to
the earth”, view the scenery around and take time to grasp all that
God spoke into existence. If we really take time, the earth will teach us, it
will show us the awesome power and authority that God possesses and the
reverence that HE deserves. We will never know all that God has done and can do
until we see the full magnificence that is our God… Today, the Lord is telling
us that the little bit that we can see and feel; should be enough for us to
enjoy this life… Remember that a better future lies ahead... If God holds our soul and breathe in the palm of his
hand, imagine what He has in store for us if we walk with Him. So,
don’t let this life get you down, don’t become so bogged down in work that you
do not have time to value the work of the Lord. Relax and enjoy! Remember this
is coming from the book of Job, a man who had fallen on hard times and hit rock
bottom (He lost his children, livestock, and
fortune, not to mention that his wife turned her back on him). In the
midst of it all, Job is resting in the assurance that God’s hand is moving and
not giving life to the notion that the enemy is winning… We can learn a valuable
lesson today about trusting God in adversity… Stop thinking the enemy has power
and start believing that his storm is serving a purpose… You soul and every
living thing is in His hand… That should be
very uplifting to all of us, for we know that we do not have to get upset at our
circumstances, or our status on this earth, just know that GOD CAN, GOD IS and
GOD WILL!!!
BE
BLESSED!!!
